Demodex…The Little Mites In Your Eyelashes

Everyone has mites (called demodex) that naturally reside on their skin and in their hair follicles. Generally, these are not problematic, unless they increase dramatically in number and lead to unhealthy eyelid margins. When this happens, the condition is known as blepharitis. Symptoms include redness, itching, burning, dry eyes and general discomfort in the eyelid.

First line treatment for blepharitis is eyelid hygiene with tea tree oil, hypochlor spray, and/or lid wipes. Second line treatment is a drop called Xdemvy, which has a 6-week treatment course, and has proven to be incredibly effective.

Please let us know if you have been experiencing any of these symptoms and we would be happy to help!
